The Priya philosophy.
It’s as simple as breathing.

In recent times we’ve been hearing more and more of this thing called “mindfulness”. Almost every week there is yet another article on “mindfulness” or “mindfulness practice” in the media, and yet, most often, there is no description of what “mindfulness” really is, mainly it’s all talk of the many reported benefits. We’ve noticed that many people have questions. Is mindfulness difficult? Does it take a lot of time? How do you even do it? So we wanted to share with you just how simple and easy it is to enjoy the benefits of a little everyday mindfulness. And the best part is that it only takes a well-chosen moment of our time!

Mindfulness is simply the art of paying attention to the very moment we are in and doing so without judging. It’s all about this moment. Not the past. Not the future. Letting go of all our over-thinking and just allowing a single moment out of our hectic day to pause and understand that this moment is the most important thing in the world. One way to do this is to bring our mind to rest on one gentle inhalation and exhalation of our own breath. Because this is a small but important physical act, it takes us out of our constant “head space” and acts somewhat as an antidote to the ongoing inner chatter so many of us seem to struggle with these days.

We noticed that the shower, for so many people, is often the only opportunity in a day to pause and enjoy a quiet moment. So we use our Priya products, with their wholesome ingredients and a whisper of delicate scent to help us to focus as we draw a simple fragrant breath, and relax our body as we exhale and properly pay attention to the silky lather, the water on our skin and even the notes of the fragrance.

Just for that moment, as we become present, we allow ourselves to reconnect with our bodies and with life. Even if the mind wanders, we just appreciate that we have a “thinking mind” in the first place, and bring it back to that small moment.

And there we have it! A simple act of mindfulness that we can practice every day, no matter how crazy the world around us seems to be. It really is as easy as taking a breath.

That single breath, in that small moment, is actually the beginning of our mindfulness practice, and our pathway to feeling cleansed and alive from the inside to the outside of our bodies. Over time, everyday mindfulness helps us to develop a more relaxed and profound sense of awareness as we come to truly understand why we’re called a human “being” and not a human “doing”!

Our Priya philosophy is grounded in the belief that somewhere in our everyday lives, we can, in some small way reconnect with ourselves, with life and with the world around us. Being kind to ourselves allows us to offer kindness to others with authentic generosity of spirit. It’s so reassuring to know that we can achieve this through small, nurturing acts of mindfulness. And it all starts with something as simple as noticing a single breath.
